Divido.

User journey

Virtual cards in the physical world.

Divido was looking to create a payment flow for a new potential customer. The customer (a multi-billion-pound merchant) was not offering finance in their stores, and they were asking how Divido could fit in to their existing checkout flow.

the problem

The merchant has hundreds of stores across the UK, so Divido needed to come up with an integration that required minimum effort to launch across all stores, without any changes or updates to the current payment insfrastructure (card terminals etc.).

goals

  • Create an easy way to pay on finance in-store.
  • The flow should tap in to the current payment insfrastructure.

my role

I came in to the project when the main steps in the user journey had already been decided by Divido and the merchant, so my role came down to:

  • Prototyping
  • Low-fidelity mockups
  • High-fidelity mockups

solution

The proposed solution was that the user would:

  1. Enter the store and scan a QR code or enter a URL.
  2. Go through the Divido application form and get a virtual credit card.
  3. Add the virtual credit card to Apple Pay/Google Wallet and pay using the existing card terminals.

wireframes

To illustrate this journey, I created some low-fidelity wireframes to quickly show how this flow could work so that Divido could make changes before showing it to the merchant.

high-fidelity mockups

After a few iterations with Divido, I created some high-fidelity mockups in Sketch to be included in the pitch deck that was shown to the merchant.

learnings

  • Working in a new sector (fintech).
  • Improving my Sketch skills while working on the high-fidelity mockup.
